Hi there, I am currently on dialysis and have been for the last 4 years.
I’m on the transplant list so fingers crossed that I get the call soon.
My journey began in 2004 when I was diagnosed with CML ( chronic myeloid leukaemia) I had my stem cell transplant in December 2005 however it wasn’t long afterwards that my kidney function started dropping due to the chemotherapy and a drug called cyclosporine which is given to allow the donor cells to settle in without causing major complications by fighting my cells. Unfortunately my kidneys only lasted for 13 years and eventually I had to go on dialysis.
Last year I was shopping with my wife and to cut a long story short a little bottle of lager fell out of a pack and hit my left foot. The consequence of that resulted in me losing my left leg below the knee.
However, despite everything I have experienced I’m upbeat and looking forward to being freed from dialysis one day.
When I’m at dialysis I get cold and this garment from piccaboo will be a Godsend.
I’ll make a point of promoting the charity in the unit.
