About Us

Hello, I'm Olivia, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the founder of Picc A Boo. Allow me to share the inspiring story of how Picc A Boo came into existence...

It all began when my father, Richard, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. As he underwent treatment, he had to be fitted with a picc line—a long catheter inserted into his upper arm to administer medications such as chemotherapy and antibiotics, as well as to draw blood. While the picc line was essential for his treatment, it posed a challenge for him to stay warm and comfortable, as wearing a hoodie or jumper would cover the line completely. In my quest for a solution, I scoured the internet but found that nothing suitable existed.

That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands. Despite my limited sewing skills, I purchased a hoodie from Sainsbury's, cut a hole in it, and added a zipper. To my delight, my dad loved it. Encouraged by his positive response, I created a second one using a beautiful blue M&S fleece. Soon after, I started making more of these modified garments, which I donated to the ward where my dad was receiving treatment. The hospital staff embraced the idea and became enthusiastic supporters of Picc A Boo.

My mission now is to provide jumpers, hoodies, and fleeces to anyone who needs them, whether they are undergoing cancer treatment, dialysis, or any other medical procedure. Whether someone is an inpatient, in hospice, or recovering at home, I want to ensure they have the comfort and warmth they deserve.

Over time, I have refined the design, and now I exclusively use a popper-style closure, which allows patients to easily fasten the garment themselves. Although Picc A Boo is currently in its early stages, I have exciting plans in the pipeline. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to grow and expand.
